Série 2 — intervalles, valeur absolue et encadrements.
Exercice 1
Écrire sous forme d'intervalle l'ensemble des réels \(x\) vérifiant chaque condition.
- \(-3 \le x < 5\)
- \(x > 2\)
- \(\lvert x\rvert \le 4\)
Correction
- \([-3\,;5[\).
- \(]2\,;+\infty[\).
- \([-4\,;4]\).
Exercice 2
Déterminer \(A\cap B\) et \(A\cup B\) avec \(A = [-2\,;6[\) et \(B = ]3\,;9]\).
Correction
\(A\cap B = ]3\,;6[\) et \(A\cup B = [-2\,;9]\).
Exercice 3
Résoudre dans \(\mathbb{R}\) : \(\lvert 2x - 5\rvert = 7\).
Correction
\(2x - 5 = 7\) ou \(2x - 5 = -7\), donc \(x = 6\) ou \(x = -1\).
Exercice 4
Résoudre dans \(\mathbb{R}\) : \(\lvert x - 3\rvert < 2\), puis \(\lvert x + 1\rvert \ge 4\).
Correction
\(\lvert x-3\rvert < 2\) équivaut à \(1 < x < 5\), soit \(x\in\,]1\,;5[\). \(\lvert x+1\rvert \ge 4\) équivaut à \(x + 1 \ge 4\) ou \(x + 1 \le -4\), soit \(x\in\,]-\infty\,;-5]\cup[3\,;+\infty[\).
Exercice 5
Sachant que \(2 < x < 5\) et \(-1 < y < 3\), encadrer \(x + y\), \(x - y\) puis \(2x - 3y\).
Correction
\(1 < x + y < 8\) ; \(-1 < x - y < 6\) ; \(4 < 2x < 10\) et \(-9 < -3y < 3\), donc \(-5 < 2x - 3y < 13\).
Exercice 6
Simplifier \(A = \sqrt{50} - 3\sqrt{8} + \sqrt{18}\) puis rendre rationnel le dénominateur de \(B = \dfrac{3}{\sqrt5 - \sqrt2}\).
Correction
\(A = 5\sqrt2 - 6\sqrt2 + 3\sqrt2 = 2\sqrt2\). \(B = \dfrac{3(\sqrt5 + \sqrt2)}{5 - 2} = \sqrt5 + \sqrt2\).
Exercice 7
Soit \(x\in\mathbb{R}\). Écrire \(\lvert x - 2\rvert + \lvert x + 1\rvert\) sans valeur absolue en discutant selon \(x\).
Correction
Si \(x < -1\) : \(-(x-2) - (x+1) = -2x + 1\). Si \(-1 \le x < 2\) : \(-(x-2) + (x+1) = 3\). Si \(x \ge 2\) : \((x-2) + (x+1) = 2x - 1\).
