1. Définition

La fonction exponentielle \(\exp\) est la réciproque de \(\ln\) : pour tout \(x\in\mathbb{R}\) et \(y > 0\), \(e^x = y\Leftrightarrow x = \ln y\).

2. Propriétés

\[e^{a + b} = e^ae^b \qquad e^{-a} = \frac{1}{e^a} \qquad e^{a - b} = \frac{e^a}{e^b} \qquad (e^a)^r = e^{ra}\]

3. Dérivée et variations

\((e^x)' = e^x\) et \((e^{u})' = u'e^{u}\). La fonction \(\exp\) est strictement croissante sur \(\mathbb{R}\) et convexe.

4. Limites

\[\lim_{x\to+\infty}e^x = +\infty \qquad \lim_{x\to-\infty}e^x = 0 \qquad \lim_{x\to+\infty}\frac{e^x}{x} = +\infty \qquad \lim_{x\to-\infty}xe^x = 0\]
\[\lim_{x\to0}\frac{e^x - 1}{x} = 1 \qquad \lim_{x\to+\infty}\frac{e^x}{x^n} = +\infty\]

5. Exponentielle de base \(a\)

Pour \(a > 0\) : \(a^x = e^{x\ln a}\) et \((a^x)' = (\ln a)a^x\). Croissante si \(a > 1\), décroissante si \(0 < a < 1\).

6. Courbe

\((C_{\exp})\) admet l'asymptote horizontale \(y = 0\) en \(-\infty\), une branche parabolique de direction l'axe des ordonnées en \(+\infty\), et la tangente \(y = x + 1\) en \((0 ; 1)\). Pour tout \(x\) : \(e^x\ge x + 1\).
