1. Définition

La fonction logarithme népérien \(\ln\) est la primitive de \(x\mapsto\frac1x\) sur \(]0 ; +\infty[\) qui s'annule en \(1\).

\(\ln\) est définie, continue et strictement croissante sur \(]0 ; +\infty[\), \(\ln1 = 0\), \((\ln x)' = \frac1x\). Le nombre \(e\) vérifie \(\ln e = 1\) (\(e\approx2{,}718\)).

2. Propriétés algébriques

Pour \(a, b > 0\) et \(r\in\mathbb{Q}\) :

\[\ln(ab) = \ln a + \ln b \qquad \ln\frac{a}{b} = \ln a - \ln b \qquad \ln a^r = r\ln a\]

3. Limites

\[\lim_{x\to+\infty}\ln x = +\infty \qquad \lim_{x\to0^+}\ln x = -\infty \qquad \lim_{x\to+\infty}\frac{\ln x}{x} = 0 \qquad \lim_{x\to0^+}x\ln x = 0\]
\[\lim_{x\to1}\frac{\ln x}{x - 1} = 1 \qquad \lim_{x\to0}\frac{\ln(1 + x)}{x} = 1 \qquad \lim_{x\to+\infty}\frac{\ln x}{x^n} = 0\]

4. Dérivée de \(\ln|u|\)

Si \(u\) est dérivable et ne s'annule pas sur \(I\) : \((\ln|u|)' = \frac{u'}{u}\). Donc une primitive de \(\frac{u'}{u}\) est \(\ln|u|\).

5. Logarithme de base \(a\)

\(\log_a x = \frac{\ln x}{\ln a}\) (\(a > 0\), \(a\neq1\)). Le logarithme décimal est \(\log x = \frac{\ln x}{\ln10}\).

6. Courbe

\((C_{\ln})\) admet l'asymptote verticale \(x = 0\), une branche parabolique de direction l'axe des abscisses en \(+\infty\), et la tangente \(y = x - 1\) au point \((1 ; 0)\). Elle est concave.
