1. Équation \(y' = ay + b\)

Les solutions de \(y' = ay\) (\(a\in\mathbb{R}\)) sont les fonctions \(y(x) = Ce^{ax}\), \(C\in\mathbb{R}\).

Pour \(y' = ay + b\) (\(a\neq0\)) : \(y(x) = Ce^{ax} - \frac{b}{a}\). Une condition initiale \(y(x_0) = y_0\) détermine une unique solution.

2. Équation \(y'' + ay' + by = 0\)

On lui associe l'équation caractéristique \(r^2 + ar + b = 0\), de discriminant \(\Delta = a^2 - 4b\).

CasSolutions générales
\(\Delta > 0\) (racines \(r_1\), \(r_2\))\(y = \alpha e^{r_1x} + \beta e^{r_2x}\)
\(\Delta = 0\) (racine double \(r\))\(y = (\alpha x + \beta)e^{rx}\)
\(\Delta < 0\) (racines \(p\pm iq\))\(y = e^{px}(\alpha\cos qx + \beta\sin qx)\)

Deux conditions (par exemple \(y(0)\) et \(y'(0)\)) déterminent une unique solution.

Cas particulier

\(y'' + \omega^2y = 0\) : \(y = \alpha\cos\omega x + \beta\sin\omega x\) (oscillateur harmonique).

Exemple

\(y'' - 3y' + 2y = 0\) : \(r^2 - 3r + 2 = 0\), \(r = 1\) ou \(2\). Solutions : \(y = \alpha e^x + \beta e^{2x}\). Avec \(y(0) = 1\) et \(y'(0) = 0\) : \(\alpha + \beta = 1\), \(\alpha + 2\beta = 0\), d'où \(\alpha = 2\), \(\beta = -1\).
